Title: Finding Roller Derby Events
Post by: Bishop on March 04, 2009, 11:14:15 pm
Is there a website where I can find out about roller derby events rather than searching each individual team's event schedule?  I live in Virginia and am hoping to see an event this weekend (March 7 - 8 ) .  Does anyone know of any nearby?  I did see that there is an event in Baltimore on the 14th which I believe DayGlo Divine will be at - I might try to make that one.  However, I have my first event on the 15th in West Virginia so I might not be able to pull off a trip to MD.

Thanks,

Charm City is playing Harrisburg and Atlanta in Baltimore on 3/14, and I will indeed be there.

I believe DC also has a bout that day, but Ref Neck would be a better person to ask about that.

Thanks DayGlo Divine.  I just checked DC Rollergirls events and indeed, they do have an event that evening.  I could use a change of scenery though - so I might trek up to Baltimore.  Any chance I could be a NSO at the bout?  Also, how does one add to the Zebra Huddle events calendar?

Nevermind - I see how to add events now.  Are there "minimum standards" for posted events?

Click on Calendar, scroll to the bottom, and then click on Post Event

Uncheck "Link Event To Post" if you don't need referees for the event, so we're not flooded with event listings in that section of the board.

The calendar is for derby bouts or tournaments, not birthdays and things like that. Is that what you're asking?

Funny you should say that - my birthday is coming up and I was going to host a pick up bout as part of the celebration.  But no, I wasn't asking about non-derby related events.  I was wondering about bouts with non-WFTDA teams that abide by WFTDA rules.  Call it an inferiority complex on my part, but I though I'd ask if it was ok beforehand.

Oh yeah, that's fine. If it's a full bout (not scrimmages) played by WFTDA rules (doesn't have to be sanctioned, or played by WFTDA teams), feel free to post it on the calendar.

I think we're set for NSOs, but I will check.

Don't think of it as inferior. Not everyone lives in a city with a WFTDA league.
