Title: New WFTDA Stats Worksheet
Post by: jmhgn on November 21, 2012, 08:58:04 pm
I was wondering if anyone knows if/when an updated Stats Worksheet will be available.  The newest one was released in October but the Penalties tab still has spaces for Minors.

The new rule set goes into effect on Jan 1st.  So, I would hope it will be released by then. :)

While some/(all? It's been a while) of the Beta games at ECDX had customized paperwork, the final submissions were using the existent spreadsheets. The only stumbling block from doing that right now is that we need the penalty code for "Delay of Game" which is probably going to be a "D". Everything else should work, just that the PT sheets are going to look a little barren.

The good news is that both teams will fit on a single sheet without shrinking the boxes to nothingness.

And no one would ever have penmanship that makes a "D" look like either an "O" or a "P".

Letter-wise it make sense - trying to read the penalty and enter it into the spreadsheet it could be a nightmare.

Lowercase "d"? as i look back and think all the shorthand that we use is aleays uppercase, but just a thought.

I expect that like hand signals and verbal cues, the WFTDA stats people will release information when it is ready to be released.  I would expect everything to be completed and made public by Jan 1st, 2013 which is the stated date for the rule set to be in full force.

In the interim you can probably use whatever symbol you'd like; be it an upper case D, a lower case d, or a silent Q.  :)  Just be prepared to conform to how the wonderful people at Stats ask that you do once they have released a stats book that conforms to the new rule set.

Yep, it's thanks to the God of small favors that we're introducing a potentially confusing penalty code alongside new paperwork that doesn't require the precision tantamount to carving your name into the side of a pen.
