Title: Thank you
Post by: Manic Oppression on February 16, 2010, 08:30:12 pm
So I just wanted to throw a shout out to all the NSOs. I recently reffed a bout where as I started to report the penalty I had called the NSO finished my sentence. Almost every call I made they had down as I was turning to repeat it for them. Made my life so easy. I for one have a great appreciation for good NSOs being part of the officiating team.

This has clarified a lot of stuff for me. I am currently the Head NSO, Support staff wrangler and stats person for our league. I do share responsibility with one other person, but mainly he has nothing to do with the bout itself, just mainly bout production. I was told that I could become WFTDA Level 1 certified by a visiting ref. Which at the time I did not know that. Besides being the head NSO I also do the penalty tracking sheets in the middle. So by my understanding I can still get certified since I contribute to the actual bout?

Yes, you can get Level 1 certification. The documents and answers are here : http://wftda.com/officiating/certification-faq

Penalty tracking is a position you can receive an evaluation for, along with score keeping, and several other NSO positions.
