Insoles for skates, mainly when jam reffing.
« on: February 10, 2009, 05:10:48 am »
When jam reffing, I push so hard with the big toe on my right foot that I've torn a hole in the crappy foam insole that came with the skate the first bout I jam reffed. I bought some cheap gel insoles that protect my toe from blistering but they slide out from under my heel after the first jame or two. I tried some memory foam insoles, and they stayed put, but I got a mean blister on my right big toe again. So I'm now back to the annoying gel ones.

Does anyone have any suggestions for insoles that prevent blisters but stay put?

You may also want to wrap your feet before a game.  Putting Second Skin on a blister or almost-blister will change your life, I swear.  Or maybe just padding the area with foot tape before you start.  If you have a medic who knows how to do this well, I highly recommend it.  WCR is lucky enough to have a partnership with a local physical therapy place, so they send athletic trainers to all our bouts and most practices.  They know just how to wrap feet, ankles, and knees to keep us all comfortable and safe.  If you don't have resources like that, try it on your own; it will probably still help.

I was getting a blister on the arch of my foot, and used the stretchy wrap that sticks to itself (instead of tape which left behind residue and also got sweated off way too easy) and that was perfect for me. No more blisters. Dunno how well you'd be able to wrap it on just a toe, though.
Hey look, a search function! Right up there! No on the left

Perhaps we should all spend a little more time reading and a little less time making shit up.

I have some of that stretchy wrap stuff. I'm gonna try this one first because it won't cost me anything.
Thanks for all the ideas.

I picked up some insoles from the sporting good store. I don't recall the brand but they're thick and made for atheletes. That combined with some under armor socks did wonders.
