If you are a rollerderby referee, follow the following instructions to get permission to enter the Referee-Only area of the board.

The process for getting your referee status verified has changed a little bit.
The way to receive verification now is by sending an email to redacted
The email should include:

  • Your legal name
  • Your derby name
  • email contact for a league rep (president, vice-president, interleague coordinator, head ref, etc.)

How new to reffing is tooooo new to request this? ???

I have just begun reffing, so far I have only been jam timer/official timer for going on 3 bouts this weekend. One of which was a WFTDA sanctioned game. I will begin pack reffing soon, but have yet to do this outside of practices.....

I am too new? I certainly don't want to upset anyone or misrepresent myself...

Thank you in advance,

I prefer someone who has reffed a bout. At the very least you should be in training toward being a skating referee. The only case that we give someone access who is strictly an NSO is if they are WFTDA certified.
If you have not yet reffed a bout, but have been an NSO, we will deal with it on a case by case basis.

Very fair, I am to have my first bout as a skating official soon. I wll just wait to make the request. I am eager to do a good job and am looking to gather as much information, suggestions and feedback as I can.

I am thankful for what I have access to know, thank you. :D

Hey there,

Im head of the referee committee in my league, im also a skater on my league.  I work closely with the head ref and both he and I are always clarifying the rules for our league.
My question is, can I request access to the referee section of this forum or am I out of line asking this?
We are not a WFTDA registered league, but have been in existence since Nov 2007.  We are about to have our first bout.
When im not skating (due to an injury for example) I am head ref.
I dont want to cross any lines and I certainly dont want to cause offence to anyone.

On another note - great forum!  Im glad I found it and im sure its going to help our refs out a lot!
Thanks
Tart 'n' Terror

You are not out of line for asking. It's certainly an interesting situation for the purposes of determining access.
Let me think about it and get back to you.

Hey, new folks.  When you are emailing -redacted-, please indicate in the email if your user name on Zebra Huddle is different than your derby name.  This will expedite the process.  Thanks!

Hi there!
I noticed the post  earlier from Tart n Terror asking about Ref only access....I am in a similar situation.

I am currently a skater in my league, a member of the Rules/Refs committee and have been reffing for over a year now as well. I started reffing with my first league on the east coast (non-Wftda) before moving cross country to a WFTDA Western region team (TRD). I ref as often as possible, which currently is about once a month in non-sanctioned games. I would eventually like to become certified (since I will inevitably have to retire from skating someday  :( )

So the question remains, would I be eligible for Ref only access?

We declined in her case because she only refs when she is unable to skate. It sounds as though you perform both roles, so I don't see it as being a problem.

How long does it take to get verified? I requested access about a month ago and haven't heard anything yet...

Referee Verifier:

http://www.zebrahuddle.com/index.php?topic=1625.msg23507#msg23507

Also:

Stego ExceptionHandler will have to answer that, but sometimes it takes a while to get a response from your league.

Additionally, as it has been less than a month since this changeover, the new verifier may not have recieved it. Bear with us in this time of transition.

I get too many emails with just the league contact's email, something like surfing87@somedomain.com or info@leaguename.com
Email addresses like president@leaguename.com are fine.

I have tried on two different occasions to gain full ref access and I don't believe I  have accomplished this. Anything else I can do other than what has already been requested or do I have it, just not looking clearly?
