1st German Championship Dec 11 2010
« on: September 29, 2010, 05:54:25 pm »
It will be a one day tournament in Berlin with 6 Teams. There will be a max. of 100 EUR to cover travel expenses. So it's probably not for non-european zebras. But Berlin is always worth a trip....

If you're available send me a PM and I will invite you to the yahoo group.

Oooooh, you foul temptress!

I'm open that weekend, and my passport is current...

Plus real Currywurst and Christmas Markets, too.

Send me event details, please, so I can figure out possible flight plans.
You will bout as you practice.

Reaver, there's even a museum dedicated to it. In Berlin, of course.

I have to some point try Currywurst now ..

Best of luck with the tournament, would you consider posting a blog or something about the process from planning through to after thoughts?

We're still organizing, but here is a summary of what we know right now:

The tournament will be held on Saturday, 11 December in Berlin. Our venue is a
a former bus depot, the Arena, where we will build two tracks and run
overlapping bouts. The bouts will have two 20-minute half times and plenty of
time for referees to rest. We've invited 5 of Germany's actively bouting teams:
Essen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, and of course Berlin. We've also invited
Zurich as a guest league.

If all six leagues send teams to the tournament, we will have 9 bouts. If five
teams come to compete, then we will have 7 bouts. Regardless of who competes,
Germany has only a limited number of referees, so we need a lot of guest
referees to support us!

The Berlin league, Bear City Roller Derby, will contribute to the cost of guest
referees' travel and overnight accommodation. In addition, on Sunday 12
December, we will be hosting a referee workshop. The aim of this workshop is to
support the growing sport in Germany. We will discuss how small or young leagues
can create strong referee teams and each others' leagues. All referees - German
or guests - are welcome to come and offer their ideas and leadership.

Here is the link to the application form (you're chances of being accepted are at 99%):

PLEASE HELP!

We had a couple of people dropping out, right now we are in desperate need of either a jammer or a head/inside pack referee for the tournament. Travel expenses up to 100 EUR will be refunded.

If you or someone you know can make it. Please let me know: riffreff@gmail.com

Cheers
RR

That really sucks that there are refs who have to drop out less than 2 weeks from the tournament.

I'll keep asking around, what if I find a pack ref who isn't a HR? Are you able to make adjustments?
