B-Cup Tournament - Bloomington, IN: February 5
« on: December 11, 2010, 03:23:20 am »
Hello all:

Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls are putting on a B-Cup tournament on February 5th, 2011 for teams in the area and we are on the look out for referees for the event.  The plan is to have two full referee squads so we are of in need of jammer, inside and outside pack referees!  More information will be available at a later date, but an application was created to make my life easier for all the possible referees that might make the day (applications are due 1/5/2011).

If you would like to help us, feel free to E-mail me at brendan@brensrealm.com to get a copy of the application. Great way to get some tournament experience!

It might be a good idea to post a little more information about the event. How many bouts will there be? Sanctioned? Regulation? Non-WFTDA? Scrimmage?

The bouts will all be run under WFTDA regulations, but these are mostly B teams and newer leagues, so it won't be sanctioned. Six team tournament, last I heard. (Can you tell I'm already on the list?)

Will any be regulation for the purposes of getting evaluations for referee certification?
Hey look, a search function! Right up there! No on the left

Perhaps we should all spend a little more time reading and a little less time making shit up.

Not all the leagues involved are WFTDA. Does that mean no? I really don't know. Perhaps F'n Zebra or Brendemic can chime in.

While it would be nice if a combination that counts for evals pans out, I'm not expecting one. Still, it's a tournament experience.

Is there any more information available on this tournament? How many more officials do you need, how many bouts will be played?

The information I just received is:

We are trying to put together 2 full ref crews. Right now we'll need about a dozen refs (our crew head refs and tourny head ref have confirmed).

We are also interested in NSOs. There was talk of two crews there, as well, and of pairing them with a particular ref crew for the day. Chemistry and rest and all that. So please spread the word to NSO folks.

There are to be six or seven eight (8 ) bouts, starting at 8:30am (I know, I know, I didn't make that decision) and finishing up around 9 or 9:30pm. I'm still waiting to hear about there will be two (2) Regulation bouts (perhaps a couple more, if a certain team gets tapped for Apprenticeship), and as has been said, this is still tournament experience.

There will also be a skater bootcamp on that Sunday, and there has been talk of scrimmaging and such while there will be no full scrimmaging, refs are welcomed to attend.

Folks who have skated with us know that we treat visitors very well (you can ask around), and we expect this will be no different.

I just sent you a e-mail. Looking forward to reffing this if possible. If not I could do NSO as well. This should be a great experience for all the B teams that play!

We are still seeking a couple more experienced refs. Deadline for applying is Jan 5th, folks.

And we still are accepting NSO apps, too.
You will bout as you practice.
