Hey look, a search function! Right up there! No on the left

Perhaps we should all spend a little more time reading and a little less time making shit up.

This is awesome stuff, guys!  It's open to ALL refs, regardless of if you are affiliated with a WFTDA league.  I went to a WFTDA Clinic last year and learned a TON!  If you can make it to one of these, I highly recommend it!

The Beginner clinics are open to any ref with the inclination, application fee, and speedy fingers to click through on your registration.

You will learn a huge amount, and have lots to take back to your league.

The Advanced clinics are open only to WFTDA-certified refs, or (uncertified) refs who belong to a WFTDA or Apprentice league.
You will bout as you practice.

Oh yeah!!  Our "Mother" league so to say got the bid so I will definitely be in New Orleans. The league that I am affiliated with is going to pay the registration fee. Too bad we have a bout that night, I could have took my $100 and hit Bourbon Street.  :)   Does anyone remember the hours from last year? I am going to have to leave by 430 to make our bout at 7.

Just registered for the beginner clinic hosted by Rat City. Who will I get to meet there?

I, too, will have to miss a bout for it. But I think I'll end up helping my league more in the long run by going.

Registration for the European Clinic in Gent just got taken offline. From Gent I received the info that the date is subject to change. It might be Aug 27&28!

(which would mean I couldn't attend)

Registration and information on the Belgian clinic will be available shortly.

I received info that it's being rescheduled in order to avoid having Riff Reff attend.

This is an important point.  There are bouts every weekend and the WFTDA did their best to avoid weekends with big tournaments.

Years ago, before Memphis was in WFTDA, Houston came to scrimmage Memphis.  I was reffing and was still very green.  In the end the Houston folks said that our impact assessment was off, we were calling things too tight.  They claimed (and we took it to heart) that we (the refs) would retard our leagues development if we continued to call every touch a foul.

Professional development requires attending clinics like this.  It will help you to learn and grow and this will benefit your league more than helping with one bout.  It's no coincidence that the best leagues in the country also tend to have the strongest officiating crews.

I am super excited to go to the clinic the idea of being given a proper instruction of the use and calling of the rules we use is huge. i agree that the helpfulness of it to my home league will be tremendous. Its really just one more reason to love wftda and this sport even more. The only down side is having to drive from the jersey shore to boston which is the nearest clinic for me but it is very worth the drive.
