Zebrahuddle Posting Sections
« on: December 31, 2008, 04:08:19 pm »
I've been looking over the various sections for posting on this forum and I'm thinking they're a bit confusing, or maybe redundant. I like the idea of the WFTDA and Ref Only sections (though maybe calling the WFDTA section General Public), but maybe rearranging the sections within. For example:

|-> Rules (No Strategy Talk)
|-> General Ref Discussion

Ref Only
|-> Rules (Strategy allowed, allow Hypothetical Rule talk in here)
|-> Ref Only Discussion (have Ref Ethics topics posted in here)

As refs there's really only two things we talk about, rules and stuff that isn't rules, and of course some dicsussions are for the public, and others are for refs eyes only. It might make it a bit easier to figure out where to post and where to read posts.
Just my $0.02. Great forum anyway.

Why strategy talk is separated from the rest:

Not every referee wants to discuss strategy. It's not our job to coach, or give ideas to lurking skaters. Because of this fact, it was put separate so those who don't want to read about strategy don't have to. They can just ignore that section altogether.

Oh, same with the hypothetical rules questions. They can get to be a bit... over the top... but they aren't always so bad, and they are more related to reffing than strategy, so we probably shouldn't group them together.

Thanks for reading, carry on.

Hey look, a search function! Right up there! No on the left

Perhaps we should all spend a little more time reading and a little less time making shit up.

Both  of you are right. There is some overlap in the categories, and probably always will be. The intent was definitely to keep it so that people who didn't want to see things related to strategy or situations that would likely only happen in theory can avoid them altogether.

Over time, the organization of the forum may be adjusted. Sections may be added, removed or combined. It's still very early on and we need to see exactly how the forum is used to see what changes need to be made.
