I graduated in Biochemisty last summer, but whilst waiting for a job to come up in that industry I work as a freelance sound engineer and a venue technician at a couple of venues.

I like to boss people around for fun. For pay, I'm a lab wench currently pumping out data that may one day lead to a cure for glaucoma. I hate my mindless, dead-end job, so in the fall I'm going back to college to get a second Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (and derby may have to go away in the process... boo). I know a few of you on here have been/are engineers, so please email me your words of wisdom or horror stories so I can be better prepared. Yay, math!

Good stuff.

You would be one of the few people to appreciate this.  I considered "Segmentation Violation" as a ref-name at one point.  Number 11 :-P

Except refs don't have numbers so it de-railed my entire thought process.

I'm not quite sure how anyone can say "penetration tester" with a straight face. :P

I used to be the vocalist for a few hardcore punk rock bands... my default pic is from a show I played with one of my bands.
Joe, do the other hardcore punks know that you just used the word "vocalist" in proximity to them?

Nails my ass. head (that's assistant head ref) and I are talking about starting another band, I'm sure we'll get on that soon. We'll schedule that around our derby.
And does Nails know you call her your "ass. head"?

I sleep until 1:00 pm and collect unemployment.  I'm supposed to be a social worker or something.  I bake a lot of cupcakes and pretend roller derby is my job.

It's best if you start out with "Hey baby..."

I'm a mechanical engineer for a company that makes steel pipeline (that's big enough to walk through!) for the oil and gas industry.  I also ride around a lot on my Kawasaki Ninja (hence the derby name  :D).

Haha... well we sure aren't singers. I think vocalist is mostly acceptable.

In regards to Nails.... yes she knows she's my ass head the teams co-captain's official title is the ass. cap. we are also a league that uses a score whore and the person the keeps the official score is sometimes called the score pimp (since they tell the score whore what to do). The leagues merch person officially listed her job description as "head bitch in charge of merch"
