Illegal Procedure callouts
« on: November 21, 2012, 08:51:40 pm »
The current document of verbal callouts at http://wftda.com/rules/wftda-officiating-verbal-cues.pdf has not been updated for the new rules version.

Questions.

1 - Do we know if a new version is headed our way anytime soon?

2 - What would the proper callouts be for rules...

6.13.35
6.13.36
6.13.37

One could always use the general "illegal procedure" callout, but I'd like to use the more specific callout if at all possible.  (ie; 6.13.34 would be "illegal engaging".)
6.1.3.5.1.2.3 - The referee who quotes a rule with the most digits is declared the winner.

You might as well just call them "Illegal Procedure" for now, until we're told otherwise. I'm sure someone on this board will post within minutes of the updated Standard Practices being published.

For 6.13.36, you could maybe just go with "Failure to Re-enter" or "Failure to Reform", if you really want something specific. (I know that it's another penalty category altogether, but this would be a temporary solution. You'd be calling an out-of-play penalty instead of an illegal procedure, in this case.) I probably wouldn't bother doing so, though.

The other two rules you cite are most likely dealt with between jams, anyway, so you could use "Illegal Procedure" and explain why you're giving those penalties.

Long story short, though, there is no specific callout yet, so this falls under the, "Make a call, ref!" school of officiating.
