Jamtracker Scoreboard Help
« on: January 20, 2014, 09:32:14 pm »
Hoping that someone here uses the Jamtracker scoreboard.
http://www.rollerderbyproductions.com/

I like what I see but I am concerned because there isn't a manual anywhere I can see and the discussion group in Google Groups seems to have died out.  I am able to get the work screen on my laptop but am having trouble projecting the scoreboard portion.  I have tried the monitor selections I have (extended, PC only, second screen only, etc.) but have not been able to figure this out.

Hey,

I've used this every bout I've done scoreboard for. I love it but your right, the community is a bit dead (at least, it seems!)

For the projector settings, laptops vary by model/configuration but generally if your using Windows 7 or above it's as easy as Windows key + P to select between the choices. Usually laptops won't allow you to change though unless a projector is connected. Other laptops have a hotkey on the keyboard (usually something like Function (or Fn) and F4/F5) that cycle through the options. It tends to take anywhere up to 5-10 seconds to change to give it a moment each try.

Once you have a windows desktop showing (use extend, don't use duplicate!) on the projector, open Jamtracker and in the last tab at the top it'll show the options. Select the screen in the dropdown box and click open. If you already had Jamtracker open, click scan for the list to be updated.

Tip for using Jamtracker, learn the keyboard shortcuts! Makes mid-jam changes easy, also minimizes the lag in controlling the clock (end/start of jams, timeouts etc)

I can't seem to find a listing of the keyboard shortcuts.  Do you happen to know where they are?

If you're having trouble with it, it might be worth switching to a different scoreboard. From what I can see of Jamtracker, it has no documentation (maybe something in the download), no active community (no posts in about 6 months) and isn't in active development. There hasn't been a new release in a year and a half.

If there is a really strong reason for using it, fine. However, if it is being difficult, there are much better options out there.

I don't think I ever found a list of shortcuts. I learnt them by hovering the mouse over the buttons.
