I, for one, think the "you" tag sucks and has no use other than to be obtrusive and obnoxious.

I agree wholeheartedly.
Hey look, a search function! Right up there! No on the left

Perhaps we should all spend a little more time reading and a little less time making shit up.

I am agreeing with this. I don't like the way it has been used and what it is turning this forum into.
I am going to disable the "you" tag until someone can present to me a legitimate use for it. Expect it to disappear later today.

I'm sad to say... I'll be glad to see it gone. It has made the board too fun, I don't come here for that kind of fun. (I think this sounds sarcastic, but I mean it literally).

I couldn't find a good use for it.
This is why you gave the disclaimer earlier that it would be removed when abused.

I regretfully concur.  Although it did seem to flush out some lurkers!  :)

I know there's clearly "New Replies" and "Unread Posts" functionality. I dodn't suppose there's a way to add "Recent Topics" or "Active Topics" to the functionality. Threads with the most current postings. Just a query. Thanks.

In the forum stats section, near the bottom of the main page, there is a "view most recent posts" link.

Just a thought and I don't know how feasable this would possibly be, but:

1. We have our locations in our profile...
2. Along with that we also have how far we're willing to travel...

Is there a way with some programming genius to search for a ref based on proximity to a location? Say I'm having a bout in Louisville. What refs are in a 300 mile radius. Or just create a list of refs arranged in order of who's closer to a specific location, closest first and so on. Either way, some sort of ref search/organization function based on distance from a point. Is that some kind of info you can extract from google maps in some way? Somehow make it do a "Get Directions" type search where it displays the total miles, then use that mileage to organize the list of refs within the search, closest to furthest?

That is certainly WAY over my head. If someone else feels confident that they could patch that in, I would be interested. It's tricky, because that may be something that could be broken pretty easily by upgrading the forum software.

It can certainly be done and I've done something similar (I took my city's restaurant health records and used them to plot the street location of every restaurant in the city).

MajorWood,

If you're willing to apply for a google maps API key and host such a thing, I'm willing to look at writing the DB backend -> Mashup code for you to run automatically from cron.
