New LU paperwork question
« on: July 20, 2014, 03:20:57 pm »
Not sure if this has been discussed or covered yet.

Lineup penalty recording during a star pass. My LU tracker did this last night and I have to admit I can't think of any other way of doing it. It shows the skater going in to the box, coming out in the next line.

Other suggestions have been to put the X in Jam 2 showing the penalty was served completely in Jam 2 or $ placed in the SP line.

Any thoughts around a 'standard practice' response to this one?

Thanks

The way I was taught was to put a $ on the SP line. When a star pass happens it's a new lineup and that skater started the new lineup in the box.

That method and the one your LT used both make it obvious what happened (she entered the box before the star pass and left it after). Marking it with a X in the original jam line gives you no way of knowing if she left the box before or after the star pass.

Depends on the story of what happened.

209 sits in the box during a jam. Then there's a star pass, 209 is still serving time. And...

When did 209's penalty time finish?
You will bout as you practice.

When did 209's penalty time finish?

The way I read the LT sheet in the image is that she left the box in jam 2 after the star pass. And she then returned to the box between jams so she started jam 3 in the box (and left again in jam 3).

Assuming this represents two separate penalties, it would in fact be / $ $. It was clarified earlier this year that a penalty begun before a star pass that carries over after the star is passed should receive an S. Prior to that, there had been an unofficial consensus to use / \, which may have led t the above implementation, but that changed with the clarification.
