New Moderator Needed
« on: October 09, 2014, 03:45:46 pm »
We are looking for a new moderator, as Nick Bergus will be stepping down.

So if you are on ZH on a regular basis and are interested in helping out with keeping discussions orderly, please message me and let me know why you think you would be a good fit for the job. The job includes handling any posts that are reported to moderators and being a part of the Acceptable Use Committee. The latter involves handling any official complaints that come forward. This is a very rare part of the job.
We (the Acceptable Use Committee) will review any applicants and make a selection.

Nick and Clique, please feel free to expand on what you generally do in this position.

Also, Nick, thank you for all the work you have put in to make Zebra Huddle a better place.

Your friendly Zebra Huddle admin.

I was here a lot already and so moderating hasn't been a big time commitment for me, mostly adding some spam squishing. I've stepped in a couple of times to keep threads on track, but we've got a good community that doesn't require a lot of tending. I saw it mainly as a way to give back to Zebra Huddle; for better or worse, I suppose, gave my posts some added authority, so I probably posted less and thought about my posts more.

ZH was critical to my development as a referee, since it was a place I could come and get questions answered, see how others thought through rules issues and get advice for dealing with the always-present gray area. I suspect it's a critical resource for a lot of you, both inside and outside the WFTDA, and volunteering to moderate is a great way to help keep this resource alive.

Agreed on all counts. That last bit, being a valuable resource for many of us, I believe is the reason we need so little additional moderation beyond spam squishing. Most of us are adults looking to better our skills.

Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in becoming a moderator. We will be bringing Invader Jim on board.
Thanks again to Nick Bergus for helping out so much here. He will be here for a couple days while we make sure that Invader Jim has enough information to start in his new position.

The new Acceptable Use Committee will be myself, Cliquework and Invader Jim.
