Ref call: Sur5al challange, Pullman WA, Oct 17th
« on: August 27, 2015, 04:49:05 pm »
Have a Sur5al event coming up soon and are looking to fill our crew. We have only 6 of 12 slots filled and need a minimum of 9 refs for adaquite rotations and rest.

If you haven't reffed a Sur5al before it's fine they use a slightly modified WFTDA format.

Sur5al is a one day roller derby challenge with up to 15 teams of 5 playing each other just once throughout the day.
Each jam last for 2 minutes there’s no calling off the jam, 5 points are awarded to the winning team, 2 points for a draw and nothing for a loss, 1 point is also awarded to the lead jammer.
7 penalties still means ejection, the 5 then become 4!

I'd I haven't lost you yet, great! Here are the event details:

Here’s the information for planning Current as of 25 August.

Times: 0800 – Doors open
0820 – Officials meetings
0900 – Skaters meeting followed by short team captains meeting if needed

1150 – 5 Minute break
1200 – Heat 3 (15 Jams)

(notice that extra time is built into the schedule)

Other information
45 Jams, 2 minutes per jam.
10 teams, 5 skaters each, round robin style event

Points
5 for a win
2 for a tie score
0 for loss
1 for Lead Jammer
If there’s a tie at the end the tie break will be most lead jammer points, if it’s still tied then number of skaters still remaining(most wins), and lastly (I hope) least penalties.

No bench coaches, No team timeouts, No Official Reviews, Official timeouts very limited.

Event lead: Special Order (not skating, just herding cats)
Head NSO: Autumn Swanson
Head Ref: Craig Anderson
Video: D.j. Pief
Photos: (invited) Moscow wears it well.

This event is for the derby community and not open to the public. Bring family and/or significant others.

Will pin and update as tweaks are needed.

Special Order

I play devils advocate a lot, it is always because I desire a complete understanding of the rule/scenario. I do make changes to my reffing often as a direct result of discussions resulting in a consensus. Particularly if it is contrary to my previous understanding.

Note this is a football game day in Pullman and as such most hotels book  fast, if not already. We are looking into some couch surfing options, will let you know the details as I have them.

Also also, this event is being held indoors and the space is fairly well ventilated from the smoke due to the area wildfires, which are nowhere near Pullman.
