Skater numbers 2016
« on: October 08, 2015, 02:18:22 am »
For the new guidelines of the uniforms, how will the changes effect the sleeve numbers? Just the numbers, or can letters of a tiny nature be on them as well?
I propose the preposterous to promote and propagate pragmatism.

Additional letters/characters are already something that is only permitted on the back of a uniform.

WOW!!! I have been involved in many sanctioned games with players that have the special characters on their arm bands and have never noticed this before. Thank you so much!

Question is do they still get to play if they refuse to remove the small letters?
I play devils advocate a lot, it is always because I desire a complete understanding of the rule/scenario. I do make changes to my reffing often as a direct result of discussions resulting in a consensus. Particularly if it is contrary to my previous understanding.

If it's a sanctioned or regulation game, no. If it's not, then I'd think HR discretion could apply, but should be coupled with a firm warning that they will not be allowed to continue that way.

I've actually been working to socialize the change with the skaters in my league, and our board is working to purchase new jerseys to get in compliance before their first 2016 bout.

I know some things, but there's a lot more I don't know.

They could still play. In Regulation or Sanctioned would be subject to uniform violations and would probably foul out pretty quickly. But they could still play until then.

While that is technically true, I have never seen it handled that way. It has always been that the skater is told they have to fix the issue to play.
