2017 Rules: Scenarios for Opportunity Points
« on: March 08, 2017, 06:59:55 pm »
[rule]any Not-On-the-Track Point (see 2.5) that the Jammer cannot earn because they complete their trip through the Pack without the opportunity to earn a pass on any opposing Blocker (which would earn them a pass on the off-the-track opponents)[/rule]

Looking for specific examples you could see this applying to that aren't in the casebook if you can think of any. Trying to grasp by thinking of more examples than those provided.

I think the Casebook scenarios C3.14 and C3.15 pretty much cover the very specific instance this is designed to cover for, to avoid zero-point passes because no opponents are on the track.

Here's another one, though, without broken equipment:

Red Jammer, Red Pivot, and Red Blocker 1 are in the Penalty Box.
White Jammer exits the front of the Engagement Zone, having completed a scoring pass.
As White Jammer approaches the pack, Red Blocker 2 commits a penalty. Red Pivot stands, making room for Red Blocker 2 to sit.
With three Blockers in the box, Red Blocker 3 commits a penalty. They are told to remain on the track, but leave anyway before White Jammer has earned a pass on them.
White Jammer rolls through the group of teammates on the track without earning any passes on any opponents, because there are no opponents on the track.
Five points.

Actually, now that I think about it, here's another one:
Same as above, but Red Pivot returns to the track behind White Jammer who just entered the Engagement Zone. White Jammer gets all the way through the Pack without passing any opponents or being passed by Red Pivot).
Five points.

I know some things, but there's a lot more I don't know.

White 1, 2, 3, and 4  and Black 3 comprise the pack.
Black 4, 5, and 6 are penalized or otherwise not on the track points.

As white jammer approaches the pack from behind black 4 returns from off the track behind the white jammer.

As white jammer approaches Black 3, Black 4 joins the pack (still behind the white jammer).

Before white jammer can pass Black 3, black 3 is issued a penalty.

White jammer having no one left ahead of her to block her leaves the ez from the front ending her trip.

4 NOTT points are scored via the scoring avoidance rule you quoted. (assuming the Black jammer is not an NOTT at the time)
I play devils advocate a lot, it is always because I desire a complete understanding of the rule/scenario. I do make changes to my reffing often as a direct result of discussions resulting in a consensus. Particularly if it is contrary to my previous understanding.
