Ft. Wayne Derby Girls Invitational Tournament: Spring Roll (May 8th, 2010)

This coming May, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) will be hosting a day-long tournament featuring two tracks of action:

• An 8-team tournament on one track
• A 4-team men's tournament
• Junior Derby Exhibition
• Pickup/Scrimmage Time
• ...and the return of the Ref Jam, where zebras take the track and skaters take the stripes

Applications are being accepted for all positions now - the deadline for applications is 12/20/2009.

Track 1:

13 30-minute bouts
2 60-minute bouts (one regulation, one sanctioned)

Track 2:

4 60-minute men's bouts
Junior Derby/Pickup TBD

Keep sending in your applications, folks.  There are some good opportunities to get skating positions with a wide variety of leagues as well as with a broad array of excellent officials.

I've been a bit delayed with real world work to promote this, so I'm not sure if everybody got a chance to see this upcoming tournament and apply.  I'm still taking applications just in case, and will be assigning crews early in January.  But for priority consideration, please submit apps to me as soon as possible.

I'll have some more news on the specific structure of the tournament shortly, but to alleviate some fears, there will be opportunities for sanctioned bouts and evaluations towards Certification.

I submitted my application today... I was at the first 2 Fort Wayne tournaments, can't imagine missing the third.

Quick update - I'm waiting on a final version of the schedule.  I hope to have it early next weekend and will begin assembling referee rosters by the middle of next week. 

But rest at ease: virtually all applicants will be assigned skating positions.
