Other than the previously discussed issues with the stats sheet system, I think the policies are great. Very clear and concise. Good choice of mods and appropriate use committee. If someone takes issue with this policy, they probably aren't the type of person we all would want around here anyway.

Indeed. Much like the By-Laws of a league. Set there just "in-case" you need them, though hopefully that should be rare. We are refs after all, and should be fair and generally "like-minded" in that regard.

Though, of course, not always....

Also, might I add, that in the very short time I've been here, I've found this place to be an extremely usefull tool and forum. Thanks to all involved and hopefully I can give back in kind.

I agree as well, plus I really like the stats system, but I was always the excited kid in class when the teacher put a gold star on my homeowrk, made me feel good. :P

I am new here and new to reffing, so having guidelines, structure and policies keep it less threatening and more comfortable.. Thanks

Well its been almost three months any revising of the stats system?

I see that I went from 12 to 6 in less than 2 posts, while providing sound and well made arguments for my side.

Otherwise it looks like the stats system is nothing more than a 'clique' tool.

I have to say that I strongly disagree with you here. Since I started requiring reasons for editing someone's stats sheet, I have seen very few questionable grand slams or majors.
As to going from 12 to 6 in "less than 2 posts", that couldn't be further from the truth. Today, you got 4 majors (which I believe had merit), across 3 posts. The last time you got a major prior to that was March 15th.
So you actually went from 10 to 6 in FIVE posts. There were two posts in between that did not receive majors.

Normally, I wouldn't post this publicly. But since you decided to make a public statement like this, I decided it was necessary.

My bad two discussions..

In which both sides were respectful, made intelligent arguments without resorting to name calling or flaming.

So which is better? People disagreeing over a gray area, as well noted by JZ in a perhaps poorly worded section, worth dropping stat points on people?

Or flame fests since people know "Hey, if you disagree with anyone you're going to lose stat points, I might as well act out?"

Similar to the response here. I question the precious system and get told "Normally, I wouldn't post this publicly. But since you decided to make a public statement like this, I decided it was necessary."

I assure you it isn't because you disagreed. It isn't because the system is based on "cliques". It has everything to do with continuing circular discussions, referring to the rules as "unofficial" and ignoring links to other threads where YOU posted the correct answer that was in contradiction to what you were trying to argue.
I'm telling you to cool it. If you wish to continue this discussion, please do so in private messages.

I apologize Major,

I've been fighting a chest congestion/sinus infection crud thing and just reread in a moment of 'clear' head vs. medicine head, how those posts here came out, a lot less than my normal cheerful and friendly demeanor.

Okay, Very cool. I have read the policy.  My comment is that I recognize the hard work and organization that has gone into this site.  Thumbs up and thank you. I will do my best to roll with the rules. :-)

Hey Wood,

Is there a way that a member can see which thread results in a major or grand slam?

The feedback would remain anonymous, but it would be associated with a specific thread.

I'm still slowly recovering from a beating I took in stats at the outset and a bit sheepish about stating my opinions.

No, there is no way to do that.
Don't worry about the stats sheet. Just participate in the discussions and follow the golden derby rule; don't be a douchebag.
