cutting the track
« on: January 24, 2010, 05:18:12 pm »
I just want to clarify this.  If a skater gets knocked down at the beginning of a corner and slides across the infieldback into the track, in front of skaters, as long as she stays down she is not subject to cutting the track penalties even though she reentered the track at a different place than she left.  She is, however, subject to low block and tripping penalties.

Is that correct?  She doesn't have to crawl back out of bounds if she waits for the pack to pass her.

correct. As long as she remains down and doesn't block/engage/trip opposing skaters.
You will bout as you practice.

Yep..  She has to actually be upright and moving forward inbounds  to recive the cutting the track  penalty..

I had one last night where the jammer cut past 2 girls and went back inbounds.. then she looked right at me after the foul......

She gave  me the I didnt do anything derby girl look....

She tried to call off the jam... I shook my head no... sent her to the box.....

I love the "did he/she see that" look!  What a delicate song and dance.  Of course, don't forget to tack on:

6.12.6 A Jammer attempting to call off a jam when she is not Lead Jammer, and the jam is not
called off.
