Zebra Huddle Referee Clinic
« on: February 26, 2010, 09:49:37 pm »
Yes, ZH is considering running a referee clinic this summer! I'm in the early planning stages, I can't be totally sure this will happen just yet, but I'm pretty bullish about it.

The thought is that this will likely be two days in July (July 17-18 looks good right now). The first day will be seminar style lectures from some of the best referees in the country. The second day will be scrimmages for you to put your newfound knowledge to the test while having experienced referees taking notes to give you input on what you're doing well and what needs work.
This clinic will be held in Nashville, TN.

If you think that you are likely to come, please fill out the form linked below. Please note that this is not registering for the event, but instead giving me necessary information for planning.

Update: Definitely not July 17-18th. Just assume summertime for now. It may not be July at all.

This sounds awesome. My attendance will be very nearly assured, as I will plan the family vacation around the final dates for this.

And, hey... No question about bars within walking distance? ;)

I have been to Nashville twice, once to record a album and the other for a upright bass class...

I swear I have never met folks in a city that were so nice... Everyone there were good down to earth folk........

Referees are not here to legislate, dictate, pontificate or participate.  We are there only to facilitate.

And here I thought I was having a rough time getting from Madison to Winnipeg & back.  Clearly I don't know what true Derby Dedication is...

I'm working with NRG to determine a date that we can scrimmage. I'm hoping that I can get some more information next week.

Hey Reaver, maybe this time I will drive to your house and then we can scoot to Nashville that way!  I am pretty sure we wont need passports to get over the Mason-Dixon line, although I am not positive...
Why do I ref derby?  To prove to everyone just how uncoordinated I am.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to cancel plans for this event. After finally getting information about the space that we would be using (our only option right now for the type of clinic that I was trying to set up), they gave me a price that was unreasonable (and not typical for that space).
In order to be able to cover costs, admission would have to be $60+ and at least 50 people would need to attend. That's just not a feasible option.

I will continue to look for possible ways to do this at a future date.

I'm also thinking of the possibility of hosting web-based seminars, for a much lower price. Let me know if you would be interested in this.
